Sign the Petition – Don’t Persecute Pastors for Peace
In 1993 the Gandhi Peace Award was presented to The Rev. Lucius Walker, Jr. (03 Aug 1930 – 07 Dec 2010), the founder of IFCO/Pastors for Peace, which PEPeace has called “the leading religious organization working for peace and justice in Latin America and for a more humane policy toward Cuba.” When PEPeace was represented at the 1994 World Solidarity Conference in Havana, it was IFCO that hosted led the U.S. delegation of which we were a part. How ironic that with the completion of its mission in sight, as the Obama administration seeks to normalize relations with Cuba, the leading advocate for that normalization is suddenly under attack by the Internal Revenue Service. Its attempt to remove the tax-exempt status from IFCO is a naked attempt to cut off its funding from grantors who require that status, and thus to cripple it.
PEPeace has never had a Gandhi laureate persecuted so blatantly after receiving the award.
IFCO is responding in various ways. One way is to reach 10,000 signatures on a petition to the U.S. government, and they are seeking our support toward that end. You can read more and sign the petition here:
Please forward to others who could be numbered among the 10,000. We can discuss whether we should do more.

U.S. Stay Out of the Ukraine Fighting
The war in Ukraine is both tragic for the people of Ukraine and because of the danger of a full scale confrontation between the U.S. and Russia. Given it’s horrific recent record the U.S. is has no moral authority to intervene here. Stay Out!
